Colin Sankey is a prolific bassist, composer, arranger, and music instructor from Vancouver. In 2016, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the prestigious Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at Vancouver Community College. He has played as a sideman for many JUNO winners and nominees, including Francois Houle and Hugo Fraser, and has also recorded for TV shows. Colin’s act consists of popular and iconic tunes, such as Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Get Lucky, arranged specifically for the 6-string bass. He is also versatile in the nylon-string guitar and plays a variety of iconic classical guitar and flamenco pieces. Colin is passionate about rearranging popular music in unexpected and unique ways and this is what he does with his solo bass pieces. He uses a variety of extended techniques to keep the arrangements interesting for the listener. The warm sounds of a solo 6-string bass are not commonly heard in a busking environment and thus will serenade passers-by with a unique music and enrich their experience.
