Jim Sands is an East Vancouver based songwriter, musician storyteller, and occasional clown who has performed both as a solo artist and with a variety of musical groups such as the alternative band Mad Regatta, satirical duo The Talking Freds, The East Vancouver Blues All Stars, and folk trio The Deaf Dogs.
His original songs have been heard in plays produced by Vancouver Moving Theatre and in solo storytelling performances at over 15 Fringe Theatre Festivals across Canada. During the winter months Jim can be seen as Santa Claus at shopping malls and special events across the Lower Mainland. You might also catch Jim’s appearances in broadcast commercials.
Jim performs a range of traditional, contemporary and original music suited for all ages. His musical interests include the great songwriters of the last 100 years, toe-tapping acoustic songs, and traditional songs from a variety of cultures. His main instrument is the 6-string acoustic guitar, but he occasionally utilizes ukulele, dulcimer, and harmonica.
