Pico Masaki is a singer songwriter from Japan, who performs traditional and contemporary songs with the traditional Asian instrument Koto. Pico has been playing piano since the age of five and she sings both in English and Japanese. Following some time living in Australia, Pico now lives in Vancouver. She studied the “Koto”(known as “Guzheng” in China) under the guidance of a master, and has performed at many festivals such as Global Soundscapes Festival presented by Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra as one of the very few singer songwriters in the world who incorporate the Asian traditional instrument into contemporary music while maintaining her authenticity.
