Steve is a middle school teacher and boomer who grew up listening to classic rock – now called ‘roots’ or ‘yacht’ rock. He loves it when his audience says to themselves, ” I forgot how much I love that song!” Steve folds classic folk and rock artists (James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Carole King), new wave (Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Blondie, George Michaels), some soul (Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Alicia Keys), reggae (Inner Circle, Bob Marley), contemporary pop (Gnarls Barkley, Alice in Chains) and even some country (Canadian Tim Hicks) into an interactive sing-along set. Steve’s played gigs at Trading Post, Old Yale Brewing, and Field House, and busked at Seattle’s Pike Place Market. As a school teacher, he’s always encouraging young people to refine their performance crafts and play out – nothing, he asserts, gives kids confidence and a feeling of comradery better than his Young Buskers Open Mic and Musical Showcase program.
